• Slate Creek Builders, LLC is a design-build firm located in Blacksburg, VA.  We specialize in custom remodels and new homes, especially kitchen and bath remodels and additions.  Our owners, Sean and Carol, moved back to the area from Northern Virginia in 2004 to enjoy the great quality of life that the Blacksburg area has to offer. In 2010, they decided that Sean would leave a travel intensive corporate position to pursue their own community-based business and be able to be closer to home for their growing boys.  The solution was to create their own custom home and remodeling business, and Slate Creek Builders was born. It has been a terrific and challenging journey. The company's growth has come from hard work, determination, a growing resume of successful projects, and some incredible clients; SCB would not be where they are today today if it weren’t for the clients that have trusted Sean and SCB with their homes and budgets and allowed SCB to develop their dreams into realities.

Sean's work has also brought him onto construction projects all over the world and onto some of the largest construction projects in North America including airports, stadiums, hospitals, high-rises, government and military facilities.

SCB has established themselves as one of the areas premier builders and Sean is now extremely satisfied providing high quality custom design and construction services to his community in Blacksburg, VA and surrounding areas.

Dave’s construction experience is like that of many residential builders, homegrown. He had friends and co-workers during college that needed work done on their houses, so he started to learn the trade in order to earn a little extra money. This part time work translated into a full-time job with Slate Creek Builders following his graduation from The University of Minnesota – Duluth with a degree in Biology. Dave began working with SCB in 2012 as a carpenter/laborer. Very quickly it was clear that Dave was extremely proficient in most aspects of construction and great working with our customers and with our trade partners and vendors, and ready for a greater responsibility with the company. Dave has now moved into a project manager position and manages the production activities for most of SCB’s active projects.  Dave lives in Blacksburg with his fiancee.

Cassidy joined SCB in 2015 with 10+ years of experience in residential design.  She is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and Alpha College of Real Estate. She moved to Blacksburg in 2006 to pursue her Master's in Housing Studies at Virginia Tech, with an emphasis on Kitchen and Bath Design.  Since graduating, she has worked extensively in the design field as a showroom and design consultant and loves nothing more than to help clients create efficient, yet beautiful spaces.  In addition, she serves as an adjunct professor in the department of Residential Environments and Design at Virginia Tech, teaching drafting and design courses.  She lives in Blacksburg with her husband and two children.

Carol first moved to the New River Valley in the 1980’s from Mount Vernon, VA.  Carol holds Bachelor’s degrees from both the School of Visual Art’s Art History program and the highly regarded School of Architecture and Design’s Interior Design program at Virginia Tech. Carol's specialty is paint color and finish selections, and will often with our clients after the construction is done to make the final design selections and tie the entire project together.
